About The Role

This position sits within the MO Technology function and reports into the Head of Strategy and Portfolio. The role will be responsible for creation of the consolidated Technology strategy and roadmap, working closely with the CTO, Head of Portfolio and Strategy and the Technology Senior Leadership Team.
 
Main responsibilities
  • The role will manage the portfolio partners and partner with product to ensure the Technology roadmap is synchronised with our internal strategy but is reflects the Business Strategy.
  • The role will also lead and be accountable for Portfolio team. The portfolio team will drive commercial insight, analysis and reporting across the group investment portfolio. The team will lead through a partnership model, helping the business and
    Technology create a cohesive strategic pipeline of value led investment propositions.
  • This role will also play a critical part in translating our Technology vision into a cohesive strategy, ensuring ongoing commercial viability in an everchanging external and internal landscape.
  • The role will help build the overarching Technology narrative and help communicate the strategy across both Technology and the wider organisation. The role will ensure alignment with overall Group strategic objectives and develop a mechanism to
    ensure continuous tracking, reporting and measurement of delivery and investment against the roadmap.
  • This role will closely with Head of Portfolio and Strategy to build all key pan Tech analysis and presentations around financials, performance and strategy
  • The role with work with Tech Grow to build our internal strategy and commercial capability and CoE across Technology.
  • The role will also oversee and help build our consolidated procurement strategy and planning for Technology, working closely with Group procurement and the respective SLT relationship leads.

About You

  • Previous background in strategy consulting essential
  • A commercially driven individual with hands on experience creating and embedding high level strategic plans and roadmaps across an organisation with specific focus on Technology functions
  • Strong financial experience, preferably with a financial qualification and operating in a commercial background with prioritisation of outcomes to maximise value
  • Experience managing and leading an agile Technology change portfolio team with a significant budget and resource
  • Experience in strategic leadership and developing people through positive engagement
  • Specific experience embedding technology strategy within a product centred delivery function
  • Thrives in a fluid environment, helping to drive positive change
  • Significant experience working with very senior internal/external stakeholders to build a cohesive strategy
  • Experience using data and insight to build compelling narratives to support the strategy and to positively influence and enable executive decision making
  • Systems thinking, problem solving, analytical skills & a collaborative team player with strong relationship management skills
  • Numerate with an ability to translate strategy into commercially driven prioritisation and decision-making
  • Familiarity with risk frameworks and understanding the balance between risk and return
  • Has extensive experience of establishing and leading high-performing teams
Minimum criteria
  • Significant strategy building and execution experience
  • A solid understanding of Technology operating models and the evolving technology landscape/trends
  • Significant experience running portfolio teams within a hybrid project/product delivery model
  • Clear understanding of project and product delivery methodology
  • Hands on delivery experience within a project and product environment
  • Very strong commercial and financial experience, ideally a commercial accountant with background in change portfolios
  • Very strong EQ and ability to work with a myriad of stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
  • Ability to consume complex data and underlying strategies and translate them into a cohesive narrative and roadmap.
  • Broad technology experience with a good understanding of the underlying technology functions (Engineering, Architecture, data)
  • Experience creating and embedding strategy in a product centred organisation with hybrid delivery teams
