About The Role

Motability Operations are currently recruiting for a Senior UX Designer to join our team in Bristol on a 9-12 month FTC to cover a period of maternity leave. As a Senior UX Designer you’ll be leading discovery and design across both customer-facing and internal products, shaping solutions that solve real user problems and deliver measurable business impact. You’ll primarily be working on mfldirect, our flagship B2B commerce platform within the automotive industry.

This role covers a key Senior Designer on our core customer facing product, mfldirect, at a time when we’re facing some of our biggest and most exciting product challenges in recent years. You’ll play a central role in leading design for this product, but also within the Design Team itself.

Working in a product environment - You’ll be embedded within a product team, working closely with a Product Manager, Product Owners, and engineers to shape, design, and deliver solutions. You’ll be balancing discovery and delivery as you work across multiple initiatives at the same time.

Product Discovery - You’ll lead and contribute to product discovery, working with Product Managers, engineers, and stakeholders to understand user and customer needs through research and data. You’ll use discovery to inform decision-making and drive measurable impact.

Designing across journeys - You’ll design end-to-end experiences across both customer-facing and internal products, considering full user journeys, operational processes, and system interactions. You’ll focus on whole experiences, not just individual features or screens.

Accessibility Focus - You’ll ensure accessibility is considered from the outset, applying appropriate standards and inclusive design principles in your work.

About You

  • You’ve worked in product teams and are confident working closely and effectively with Product Managers and engineers.
  • You’re confident leading product discovery efforts using a range of methods.
  • You think in journeys and systems and can connect Design work to our desired business and user outcomes.
  • You’re comfortable designing for both customer-facing and internal tools and understand the different needs and constraints of each.
  • You have a solid understanding of accessibility and inclusive design and apply it consistently in your work.
  • You stay organised and focused when managing multiple streams of work
  • You bring a clear point of view and are comfortable challenging decisions to help teams move in the right direction.
Minimum criteria:
  •  Proven experience working as a Designer within cross-functional product teams, leading and contributing to both discovery and delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute user research, and using insights to influence product decisions.
  •  Strong experience designing with a focus on end-to-end problems.
  •  Proficiency with modern design tools and the ability to work efficiently within shared systems and components.
  •  Solid understanding of accessibility standards with hands-on experience applying these to real products.
  •  Demonstrated ability to discuss Design rationale and trade-offs to different audiences, including product and engineering stakeholders.
